Meet the Miracle Balm Used to Prep Models' Skin for the David Jones Runway Show

Just hours ago, we watched the likes ofВ Jessica Gomes andВ Victoria Lee practically float down the runway in what is one of Sydney's biggest fashion events: The David Jones A/W 18 Runway Show. Yes, it's only February, but if we're being honest, we're kinda' excited to start buying up coats and sweaters now that we've seen what's on offer (for a full breakdown, head to Who What Wear Australia).В

But, back to beauty. Makeup extraordinaireВ Victoria Baron was the wizard behind the stunning looks this season. The dramatic eye and fresh skin combination was the product of not one brand like most runway shows, but a selection of the best picks from David Jones' huge beauty offering. So, Baron quite literally picked the best of the best and the result was pretty epic.В

First up is skin prep. Baron opted for the EstГ©e LauderВ Revitalizing Supreme + Cell Power Wake Up Balm ($98), and the Equal BeautyВ Moisture Eye Veil ($109) for a plump and hydrated canvas. Once the complexion was all glowy and wonderful, Baron used Bobbi Brown'sВ Skin FoundationВ ($72) to give a fresh, even finish. Mac'sВ Studio WaterweightВ Concealer ($38) was on hand to lightly cover (unlikely) blemishes, dark circles, or redness.В

As for colour, BaronВ used a littleВ EstГ©e LauderВ Double Wear Radiant Bronze Cushion StickВ ($58) to lightly contour. The matching Highlighting Cushion StickВ ($58) was then pressed lightly onto high points for a soft wash of luminosity. The eyes were the focus, so Baron went for the muted greys found in the Yves Saint Laurent Couture Variation Palette in Shade 4, with Mac Pigment in Copper SparkleВ ($39) pressed into the center.

To truly recreate this look, don't blend the copper pigment so the look can stay modern, young, and slightly disheveled.В

To finish, the lips were kept subtle with just a touch of Shu Uemura'sВ Lacque Supreme in shade BG02 ($42). And that is the finished look thatВ you can see in all its glory below.

Byrdie Australia: Best tips for makeup that stays put all day?В

Victoria Baron: Keep tissues on hand for blotting (they're so much better than powder), and MacВ Prep + Prime Fix + Mist ($39) keeps everything in place. I use it to finish almost every single look.В

B: What's the best way to cover a pimple?В

VB: Find a good coverage concealer with lots of pigment, and use it sparingly. Piling on layers of makeup will only make things look worse. That, or turn it into a freckle. If it suits, I'll take a matte brown pencil and draw a light freckle over the top-no one will ever know.В

B: What's your number one makeup trend for 2018?В

VB:В Colour and texture. So many brands are working on amazing products that combine both elements. I think we will be seeing a lot of new textures in bright, amazing shades.В

B: Number one makeup product you can't live without?В

VB:В It would have to be LanolipsВ 101 Ointment ($19) because you can literally use it for anything; lips, eyes, cheekbones. It's the best.В
